Ol Afrika Media Opens Doors for Gauteng Youth with Animation and Multimedia Internship Opportunity

Young creatives in Gauteng who dream of building careers in animation, multimedia, and immersive technology now have an exciting opportunity to take their first step into the industry. A new internship programme has opened applications for passionate graduates who want to gain practical experience and exposure in the fast-growing digital creative sector. The programme aims to empower unemployed youth by equipping them with hands-on industry skills, mentorship, and the opportunity to work on innovative projects in animation and immersive technologies.

With the global demand for digital content, gaming, animation, and visual storytelling growing rapidly, this initiative seeks to nurture young talent and prepare them for professional careers in the multimedia and creative technology space.

An Opportunity for Creative Graduates

The internship is open to graduates between the ages of 20 and 33 who are currently unemployed and eager to enter the creative industry. Applicants must be based in Gauteng and must not have previously participated in YES (Youth Employment Service) or MICTSETA programmes.

Eligible candidates must have completed a Level 5 qualification, diploma, or degree in fields such as:

  • Animation
  • Multimedia
  • Visual Effects
  • Game Design
  • Or other related creative technology qualifications

Importantly, applicants must have already graduated, as final-year students do not qualify for this opportunity.

Practical Industry Experience

The internship programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world industry experience. Participants will be exposed to the practical side of animation, multimedia production, and immersive technology while working alongside professionals in the field. Through mentorship and project-based learning, interns will have the chance to sharpen their technical skills, build portfolios, and gain valuable experience that can open doors within the creative sector.

Stipend and Contract Details

Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend during the programme:

  • R3,800 per month during the first three months (probation period)
  • R5,000 per month thereafter

The internship runs on a 12-month contract, with the possibility of renewal depending on performance and organisational needs.
