The 2024 Basadi in Music Awards (BIMA) was a resounding tribute to the powerful role women play in the South African music industry. Held on August 10th, at the height of Women’s Month, this year’s ceremony became a dazzling showcase of female talent, resilience, and artistry. Since its inception in 2022, BIMA has quickly established itself as the premier platform dedicated to honoring and uplifting women’s contributions to the music industry. The 2024 event underscored the platform’s growing influence and the unwavering support for female artists. The evening was star-studded, with a diverse array of women being celebrated across various musical genres and industry roles. From established icons to rising stars, BIMA shone a spotlight on a wide spectrum of talent.
Noteworthy Award Winners
- Naledi Aphiwe captured the Sofn’Free Afro Pop Artist of the Year accolade, her distinctive sound distinguishing her in the Afro Pop genre.
- Robyn Nakaambo was honored with the Entertainment TV Presenter of the Year award, recognizing her exceptional on-screen charisma.
- Tyla triumphed with dual honors, claiming both Song Video of the Year and Highest Airplay awards for her innovative creative vision.
- Lwah Ndlunkulu impressed with her wins for Artist Video of the Year and CAPASSO Most Streamed Female Song.
- Kamo Mphela reaffirmed her dominance in the Amapiano genre with awards for Amapiano Artist of the Year and Music Video of the Year.
- Makhadzi was celebrated for her international impact with the International Achievement Award, and her dynamic stage presence earned her the Dance Artist of the Year title.
In a special recognition of her entrepreneurial prowess, Lady Du was honored with the CEO Mosadi in Business Award. This award highlights her significant contributions to the industry, not only as an artist but as a leader and innovator in the business realm. Branda Mtambo was recognized for Songwriter of the Year, while Mme Matshidiso Sekuwe received the SPAR Humanitarian Award.

- Zaza Mokhethi was honored as Gospel Artist of the Year.
- Shekhinah emerged as Pop Artist of the Year.
- Pleasure Tsa Manyalo and Salphina Kadiaka were celebrated for their contributions to Traditional and Jazz music, respectively.

- Mbalenhle Zuma won Entertainment Journalist of the Year.
- Mroza Buthelezi took home the Entertainment Radio Presenter of the Year award.
- Noni Khumalo and Nelza Buda were recognized for their contributions to television and radio production.

- Dyna Steez as Hip Hop Artist of the Year.
